On safari, all-inclusive rarely means every cost from home to camp. It normally describes a defined set of lodge services and activities, while important transport, insurance and premium items remain outside the rate.

What should an all-inclusive safari quote include?
Camp-level inclusions
Many safari camps include accommodation, meals, standard beverages and shared game activities. Premium alcohol, cellar wines, spa treatments, private dining, specialist guides and exclusive vehicles may be extra. Ask for written inclusions for each property because the meaning can change inside one itinerary.
Transport and conservation costs
Bush flights, road transfers, airport assistance, park fees, concession levies and tourism taxes can represent a meaningful share of the trip. Some packages bundle them; others present them separately or label them estimated. Confirm whether increases can be passed through after booking.
Costs that usually remain personal
International flights, travel insurance, visas, medical preparation, gratuities, shopping, optional activities and pre- or post-safari hotels are commonly excluded. Build a total-trip budget with a contingency rather than treating the package price as the final cost.
Questions to answer before booking
Which experiences matter enough to shape the country and season?
How much movement, flying and early-start travel feels acceptable?
Which costs and protections sit outside the quoted package?
What must be private, and where are shared activities acceptable?
Frequently asked questions
Are gratuities included?
Usually not. Guidance varies by country and operator, so request the current written policy and carry an appropriate mix of payment methods.
Are all drinks included?
Often standard local drinks are included while premium spirits, reserve wines and champagne are excluded. Each camp’s policy should be listed.
Does all-inclusive include flights?
It may include specified bush flights or transfers, but almost never international air unless explicitly stated.
